Media Borough
Lovingly referred to as “Everybody’s Hometown”, Media is a thriving suburban town with a distinct “main street” feel. Located 12 miles west of Philadelphia as the crow flies and conveniently in the middle of Delaware county (hence the name Media), true accessibility and connectedness surrounds the town. From convenient walkability on foot to easy highway and public transit access, both through SEPTA regional rail and trolley lines, this storybook town is the place to live! What is business hustle-and-bustle during the daytime quickly turns to lively strolls down State street for coffee, drinks and dinner with friends and family.
History
Media Borough is the County Seat of Delaware County and was incorporated in 1850 when the court records were moved from Chester. Due to this, a large portion of the town commerce is centered around professional services servicing the courts. As you stroll down Front street from West to East, you will encounter the county Bar association, the historic and ornate Media courthouse building, and scores of law and legal services offices.
Recreation
Media has a lively parks and recreation scene, with several large nature parks including 2600+ acre Ridley Creek State Park and 120 acre Rose Tree Park just a few miles from the heart of town and the serene Glen Providence Park within walking distance of downtown. There are also several smaller parks including Houtman Park, Barrall Field and the soon to be constructed pocket park at 5th and Broomall streets.

Celebrations and Nightlife
Nearly every major holiday than can be celebrated with a parade…IS celebrated with a parade, from Memorial day, to Halloween, to Veterans day. Additionally throughout the year, many festivals and events including the State Street Blues Stroll, the Media 5 Miler race, the Downtown car Show, the Food and Crafts Festival, the Santa Parade and Fun Run, and the New Year’s Eve Community Celebration and Ball Drop fill the calendar with excitement and community togetherness.
Dining and nightlife thrive here, with some fantastic bars, pubs, breweries and restaurants lining State street and its surrounding cross streets. Some of our favorites include, Brick and Brew, Sterling Pig Brewing, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant and Sligo to name a few. The arts, music and theatre scene in and around town is also unrivaled in the county. The Media Theatre, located at Monroe and State street across from Media Elementary, offers many musical theatre shows and events. The theater was originally built in 1927 and underwent a major restoration in 1993 at the hand of Media Real Estate owner Walter Strine Sr. The theater currently boasts five musicals per year with the Broadway series, and many other performances throughout the year.
Schools and education
Rose Tree Media School district is highly rated and sought out by many. With an average GreatSchools ranking of 8/10, it’s hard to go wrong when choosing a district for your school aged children. The district is served by four Elementary schools (Media, Rose Tree, Glenwood and Indian Lane – grades K-5) and is in the processing of planning and building an additional elementary school in Edgemont township, one middle school (Springton Lake- grades 6-8), and one high school (Penncrest- grades 9-12). Nearby, Delaware County Community College’s Marple campus offers post-secondary education and career training.
